We are a living, breathing archaeological site. Dig deep enough into our genetic make-up and you will find remnants of our ancestors.

Deborah Ilett is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist based near Invergordon in the Scottish Highlands. She is inspired by a diverse range of subject matter, colours and textures. Her practice revolves around the themes of time, belonging, place, memory and our interrelationship with nature. She graduated from the University of the Highlands and Islands (Inverness) with a BA(Hons) Contemporary Art and Contextualised Practice before going on to gain a Masters in Contemporary Art and Archaeology from the University of the Highlands and Islands (Orkney).

Focusing on the effects of time, a sense of belonging, place, memory and our interrelationship with nature allows for the combining of the disciplines of art, archaeology and science as both a means of research, discovery and inspiration. It permits us to consider that an object and/or place whilst belonging to the past, also belongs to the present and the future.
