Statement
My art practice focuses on the effects of time, a sense of belonging, place, memory and our interrelationship with nature combining the disciplines of art, archaeology and science as both a means of research, discovery and inspiration.
From my research I am able to expand on my discoveries, using each layer of information to inform my practice so that the subsequent artwork evokes and elicits further outcomes for the observer. It seeks to link the past and present, to re-awaken the childhood sense of curiosity.
The artworks I create aim to engage with the observer, enabling them to explicate and superimpose their own memories and ideas, leaving the artwork open for interpretation and giving it a wider sense of appeal. This encourages people to assimilate and draw their own conclusions, realising that on closer inspection and introspection they may perceive something new, creative and fulfilling.
Within my practice I use a variety of media to create my pieces, this can range from lively, but sensitively executed line drawings to explorative and stimulating painting, mixed media, photography and sculpture which invites the observer to engage with the finished work.
